Zombie For Sale (2019)
Anymore with zombie films, you’re just looking for a new take on the story, simply because almost everything’s been tried here, even in the comedic subgenre. This film is great because it delivers on that. I spent quite a while just enjoying the premise, in a lot of senses: the romance part is silly and cute, the final resolution is amusing, and the business idea is a fun alternative Viagra.
What makes this movie good is that it’s not horror/tense until you’re already invested in the characters from the humor part. And they even get you invested in the zombie boyfriend, for whom you’re constantly waiting to take a chomp out of his human friends. I think that tension and the fact that he never does (and the fact that everyone thinks he’s gorgeous) just make the story funnier. It’s a refreshing idea cutely executed.
